Journalism Experience

Freelance Writer/Radio producer, 2013 -
– Based in Sweden, reporting internationally on gender, human rights and sexual politics. Pitched and published news and feature in a variety of Swedish magazines, such as Ottar, Insikt and Dagens Nyheter.
– Spent two weeks in Jordan reporting with photographer on the psychological traumas of Syrian refugees in Zaatari refugee camp.
– Published a 1,100 word piece in one of Sweden’s biggest daily newspapers, Svenska Dagbladet, about Team Rwanda, a cycling team of genocide survivors coached by American former pro cyclist Jonathan Boyer.
– Produced a 30-minute radio documentary about 127 Sisters, a local support group for young women in Skärholmen, a suburb in south of Stockholm with low socioeconomic status.

Executive Producer/Reporter/Researcher, Swedish Radio (national public radio), Stockholm, Sweden, 2009-2016
Regular short-term contracts with ”Studio Ett”, Swedish Radio’s live daily 90 min flagship current affairs program. As executive producer I made assignments, shaped story ideas and angles, led meetings and managed reporters and anchors. I was the executive producer of the show the day of the Charlie Hebdo attacks and worked as a coordinating producer during the terrorist attacks on Utøya in 2011.

Reported on local politics, government, and cultural events in a hyper-local weekly. Published several front-page stories and news features.

Managed 30 reporters and photographers to provide monthly in depth coverage of the lives of the students and employees at Stockholm University. Launched a new website and an online strategy. Introduced the publication on social media.

Master of Science. Focused on gender, health and science with coursework in audio, local news reporting for print and profile writing. Covered science for Uptown Radio during spring semester. Master’s Project about women who choose not to have children, presented as a 21-minute audio piece.

Received certificate in Journalism, Multimedia and Stereotypes. I was awarded a scholarship to attend an international program at Denmark’s premier journalism school. The course included reporting on local news in Århus and from the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Activities: Elected among 800 applicants to be one of 30 participants in the Swedish Institute’s Young Leaders Visitors Programme in 2013, taking place in Stockholm and Amman. Selected to hold workshops on global development, humanitarian aid and poverty in high schools all over Stockholm. Has travelled to 42 countries around the world, including Japan, Uganda and Jordan.
